Welcome

The Brief:

Visualize the “tragic backstory” of Rick C-137 by integrating kinetic typography directly into the scene geometry, rather than just overlaying it on top.

The Execution:

Planar Tracking: Mapped neon typography onto environmental surfaces (e.g., the garage door) to make the text feel like part of the world.

Rotoscoping & Depth: Manually isolated character elements to place text behind the subject, creating immediate depth and high production value.

Glitch Esthetics: Designed custom VHS degradation and digital glitch distortion to visually represent the character’s mental state.

The Brief:

Transform static comic book panels into a high-energy narrative without losing the viewer’s attention. The goal was to visualize the “Multiverse” concept using only 2D assets.

The Execution:

  • 2.5D Parallax Environments: Built a custom 3D camera rig in After Effects to create the “infinite comic tunnel” effect, turning flat images into an immersive environment.

  • Kinetic Typography: animated text overlays (“Predictable," "What If”) synced frame-perfectly with SFX to emphasize narrative beats.
  • Dynamic Compositing: Extracted characters from panels to create depth and movement, breaking the “slideshow” feel of typical comic breakdowns.
